The District Venue Manager, Jarrad Anderson, said: “Aussies have always had a strong affiliation with good beer and places to drink it… live music, great food and watching sport is also part of our culture. Being able to find it all under one roof is our point of difference.”
The District at SkyCity will feature a mezzanine level, allowing increased capacity for live entertainment, where customers can enjoy Pirate Life beers tailor made for The District at SkyCity.
Pirate Life was founded in Adelaide in 2014 by Michael Cameron, Jack Cameron and Jared Proudfoot.
Pirate Life Co-Founder and Brewing Director, Jared ‘Red’ Proudfoot, said there’s a lot to be excited about as the first series of Pirate Life beers made exclusively for The District are introduced.
Jared said: “Our first brew is the District Draught, brewed with Pale and Munich Malt, the District Draught is fresh, familiar and ready to session.
“A hop free boil means ultra-low bitterness, with notes of citrus. It pours golden straw, with a generous pillow of foam. Expect aromas biscuit malt and nashi pear, with subtle notes of lime. The palate is malty, with a mild body and a clean, moreish finish.”
The doors to The District at SkyCity open at 9.30pm on Friday, November 20 and the celebrations continue Saturday, November 21 with a free concert by South Australian indie pop rock sister band, Germein.
Inspired by the vocal harmonies of iconic bands such as Queen and Fleetwood Mac, both of whom Germein’s been honoured to appear on the line-up with at the Isle of Wight Festival, they have enjoyed airplay on Triple J and the Hit Network across Australia.
Whilst also assisting a gamut of local producers and suppliers, The District is especially proud to launch as one of South Australia’s biggest supporters of the local music industry, an industry that has been severely impacted by cancellations and postponements in recent times.
The District at SkyCity has been designed by South Australian design firm Studio Nine Architects. The design of the broader gaming and lounge spaces on Level 1 is by Buchan Group. Construction work has been undertaken by SHAPE.
The opening of The District on November 20 is the first in a momentous month for SkyCity, as the SkyCity Adelaide expansion then opens to the public on Saturday, November 28.
